<a href="#comment-1381" rel="nofollow">@pcabido </a>
I agree, Dropbox rocks :) I was searching on market for some note taking application that used Dropbox for storage. I found (amongst others) Todo.txt Touch. It costs $2, but it's also open-source so I guess you could build it yourself. It's built on Todo.txt CLI, and you can read about both projects here: http://todotxt.com/

It uses a very simple notation for tasks. Each task is on it's own row, you can name contexts with @ and projects with +. I'm planning on making a very primitive bash script that imports those rows (and then remove them) into GTG using gtg_new_task and Todo.txt CLI.

I'm using version 0.3 of GTG from the PPA right now so the minor issue with this is that the task window stays open. Browsing the code repository it seems you're working on a CLI for GTG which maybe fixes this annoyance, but I'm not sure how to try it out.

Anyway, with Dropbox syncing the GTG files between your computers, maybe Todo.txt Touch could be something to have a look at? :)

I confess that I no longer use Astrid. I'm not currently using any software because of the difficulty on syncing between devices. Now I only use GTG! on my computers and symlink the ~/.local/share/gtg do the ~/Dropbox/gtg. This was the best solution that I found. Dropbox rocks!
Anyway, let me know if there are other apps available that will make any kind of integration with GTG!.

Sweet goodness, thank you! I was dreading a buggy linux hack, and you served up a simple solution. I'm trying out the RTM app. Has anyone compared it with Astrid?

Astrid is on the verge of supporting sub-tasks, if this link
http://getsatisfaction.com/todoroo/topics/sub_task_and_customizable_recurring_tasks?utm_content=topic_link&utm_medium=email&utm_source=reply_notification
is to be believed. So we just need RTM to follow suit, or 'mw88' to write some direct syncing code (http://karlojez.wordpress.com/2010/08/09/getting-things-gnome-web-the-penultimate-report/), and the GTG tasks to/from Android could end up being an elegant solution.
Here's hoping
(I wish I could help, but my programming skills end at C)

Thanks a lot, this tutorial works perfectly. I was looking for an open source solution to maintain gtd-like tasks on a linux computer and sync with an android phone, and this tutorial convinced me to give GTG a try!
