Já rootei o meu Asus Transformer TF101 (b70, sbk2) faz algum tempo, mas ainda não tinha partilhado a experiência.

Comprei um TF101 em Agosto e só depois descobrir que era uma versão “não rootavel” (sbk2) pelos meios disponíveis. Quem tiver curiosidade em saber qual a versão do seu TF101 pode faze-lo usando o SBKDetect ou SBK2Detect.

A espera acabou no dia em que foi lançado o Razerclaw (One click Root for all ASUS Transformers, 3G and Slider). O processo é simples, é necessário instalar o Razerclaw correr a aplicação e seguir as instruções. No entanto fica a nota, não instalar o ultimo update (OTA) de dia 25 de Dezembro! Fiquem pelo versão 8.6.5.19.

Depois de ter o TF101 rootado o passo seguinte é instalar o ClockWorkMod Custom Recovery para que seja possível alterar a ROM. Graças ao gnufabio também este processo é simples. Para instalar o CWM Custom Recovery basta instalar o RecoveryInstaller.apk.

E como tudo até aqui foi simples, reiniciar o TF101 directamente para a recovery não é excepção e pode-se usar uma app que está disponível no market chamada Transformer reboot to Recovery.

Atingindo este ponto o TF101 está pronto para as experiências. Aproveito para partilhar que estou a usar a ROM PRIME! v2.1.1 com o kernel Clemsyn (22A que inclui o voodoo sound patch).

Passado cerca de um mês resolvi finalmente postar sobre a minha nova aquisição, o Samsung Galaxy S2 (I9100).

É de longe o melhor telemóvel que já tive. É pena não ter um teclado físico (e parece que há uma versão prestes a sair com teclado físico) mas até ver ainda não senti saudades do meu ex-telemóvel, o Motorola Milestone. Para quem não conhecer fica aqui o link para as specs no GSMArena.

Ao início pensei que ia notar e estranhar o bicho no bolso devido ao tamanho mas tive a agradável surpresa de notar menos que o Milestone por causa do peso. Este é ultra leve e o ecrã vale mesmo a pena.

Indo ao que interessa… além dos specs uma duas das razões porque comprei o telemóvel foram a facilidade em rootar e mudar a recovery rom para posteriores actualizações de roms e o facto de ser possível encontrar o código de desbloqueio do telemóvel. Assim comprei-o sem problemas na TMN.

Rootar
O processo é muito simples, basta flashar o CF-Root com o Odin. No meu caso tive que actualizar o firmware para o KE7 primeiro e depois segui os passos do tópico [CF-Root v4.1] KE2/7/8, KF1/2/3/4, KG1/2/3/6 – su+bb+CWM4 do xda-developers forum.

Deixo aqui o link também para o tópico do xda-developers em que é discutido e explicado o processo para descobrir o unlock code e o unfreeze code, GT-I9100 Free SIM Unlock via nv_data.bin by Odia.
No entanto nem é preciso ter trabalho pois existe uma app no market para fazer isto chamada SGS2 SIM unlock code finder.

I installed anMoney several weeks ago but I only tried it out this week. It’s a must have app if you want to track your bank accounts and your spending. It has loads of options, most of them I haven’t even tried but it does what I want, it tracks my money and spending nicely! I recommend it.

If you have overclocked your Android phone you might consider using SetCPU (seriously, you should!).
I had a frightening experience this past night/morning. When I woke up my Motorola Milestone was dead! It wouldn’t boot up and when I went to sleep I remember seeing the battery status at ~60%. Apparently there was a huge battery drain during the night and the battery was completely empty. I had to charge it for about 20/30 minutes before it would boot up again. My theory is that some app with a bug entered a loop and drained my battery and as I have my milestone overcloked to 1000MHz (thanks to mirage! ) this resulted in a strange behavior and huge battery drain.
SetCPU has some cool features and profiles that you can setup. After this experience I added one that scales the CPU to 500MHz when the screen is off. If you have your Android phone overcloked this app is a must have!
The market version is paid (1,99) but you can get it here for free (SetCPU xda-developers thread).

DroidSeries is now available in the Android Market!

The next step will be the source code upload (to the Google Code page repository).

Yesterday I released DroidSeries 0.1.4.

In this version I fixed some annoying issues and answered some feature requests. My main objective for this version and probably for the next one is to fix bugs and improve DroidSeries stability in order to have a fully working app before implementing new features. That being said, keep those bug reports coming and if possible the steps to replicate them. Logcat dumps are also very appreciated!

• Added the feature (context menu option) “Seasons up to here are seen” that lets you mark all seasons up to the selected one as seen (Specials stay untouched)

It’s here! I just made the first public release of DroidSeries version 0.1.0.

If you find a bug let me know! This is the first public release and nobody besides me has tested the app so it probably has some bugs, so sorry in advance and keep those bug reports coming! Suggestions that help improve the app are also welcome and appreciated!

There are many Android applications, the market is getting new apps every day… but there is always something missing.

I’m a big TV series fan. I see lots (!) of tv shows and it’s difficult to remember what was the last episode I saw. It bothers me when I just lied down in my bed or on the sofa to watch an episode of some serie and a few minutes later I realize that  I have already seen the episode. The solution is to have a app on my phone, that is always with me, and track the tv shows that I follow.

This isn’t an original idea. Joaquim Rocha created an app for Maemo called series finale and I can say that this concept is his idea. Because I had the chance to code an Android app during my Masters, my choice was to make an app similar to series finale but for Android. This is an app that I would/will use and that was why I made it. I’m almost reaching the release of the first version of DroidSeries. I named this release “The Pilot”.

I’m currently struggling with some Bitmap memory leaks that are slowing down the app when lots of series are to be handled. Once this is done I will add the feature to update a single television serie and update all the series that the user is following and make the release.

So what is done so far? A summarized list:

• Capability to search and add a serie to the list (needs internet connection WIFI or 3G)
  • I use TheTVDB API
• All data is saved in an sqlite database (internet connection is only needed to search, when a serie is added it is saved in this database)
• Mark a episode or a season as seen/unseen
• View series or episode details
• All the small features like confirmation dialog when deleting a serie, threads and progress dialogs, information for the next unseen episode and how many episodes are not watched, etc

To give you a feel of what I’m doing, here are some screen shots:
